Interested in Catalyst Youth Ministries? Come join the chain reaction!
What is Catalyst?
Catalyst is the vibrant youth ministry of Lewisville United Methodist Church that consists of students, in grades 6-12, and adults--all exploring together what it means to follow Jesus in today's world. Catalyst is place where students can come and worship God freely with their peers (see below for opportunities and times).
What is the Mission and Purpose of Catalyst?
Catalyst youth ministry of Lewisville United Methodist Church exists to create a chain reaction of God’s love and salvation to all, reaching believers and non-believers, inviting them into a family where they can belong, uniting them with others who know Jesus, creating a community that none can separate; to encourage a deeper faith and healthy lifestyles, to serve friends, enemies, neighbors, and world at all times, and to challenge them to discern their gifts and call to ministry so that they can honor God with their lives, and worship Him fully, always thirsting for more.
What ministries are there to get involved in, and when do they meet?
Sunday Night Fellowship: This is our biggest meeting time for the group! We meet each Sunday night from 4:30-6:30pm. We have a basic structure of how we do things:
o 1st Sunday--Worship (We meet as a large group for hang out time, games, music by our Youth Praise Band and a testimony or message led by a leader or guest speaker)
o 2nd Sunday--Study (We meet for hang out time, games, and a co-ed by age small group lesson led by an adult volunteer that studies deep into the Word)
o 3rd Sunday--Hands On (Hang out time, games, large group hands on activity that dives into the night’s lesson, a small group discussion by gender and potluck meal*).
o 4th Sunday--Recap/Destination Unknown (Hang out time, games, go to an unknown destination for fun or mission, or a recap activity & discussion of month’s theme). Parents will know of destination prior to evening; however, it will be a surprise for the youth!
*On every third Sunday, we encourage families to come and join the youth for food and fellowship. This is a way to take the unity created in Catalyst into the whole family & give out important announcements. This meal takes place from 6-6:30pm.
Youth Praise Band: This is a new group, and is 100% student led. If you have a heart for praise and worship and love to worship by singing or playing a musical instrument, contact Noah Williams, the Student Leader at [email protected]. The group meets on Sunday afternoons at 3:30pm.
Youth Handbells: This group meets every Sunday at 4pm, right before Sunday Night Fellowship. It is a great way to learn more about music and participate in our worship service. Even if you’ve never held a handbell before, or don’t even know what a handbell is, contact our Director of Music, Debby Trivett, and she will surely hook you up! [email protected].
Dance Ministry: This is our newest group in the youth ministry, and is led by Emily. No experience is needed, just the willingness to move around and praise the Lord in a unique way! This group meets Thursday afternoons from 4:30-6:00pm. If interested, contact Emily. [email protected]
HS Breakfast Devo: For high schoolers who want more discussion and time together with Christian friends, we meet at the Bojangles on Lewisville-Clemmons Rd. at 7:30am on select Tuesdays (See calendar on website for the schedule).
